Contemporary Egyptian artist Rasha Elmesallamy

Rasha Elmesallamy was born in Cairo in 1986. She practised and practices many techniques in the field of graphic arts, which are both - traditional and non-traditional.

Rasha about her work:

"The traditional part represents the largest and most important part of my artworks through the implementation of many graphic works, especially the prominent engraving and printing arts, and the technical performance and surface treatments developed upon reaching an abstraction that combines expressive and surreal abstraction, taking advantage of the many data provided by modern technology. In directing the artistic work and reformulating it according to a modern format it is in line with the vast data of the age and its advanced technologies, which provide many solutions and formal treatments for the implementation of graphic .artworks.
I have practised many different printing techniques, such as intaglio printing on metal as well as embossed printing on linoleum or longitudinal wood and woodcut fibre. This formed the largest and most important division in my graphic production as the relief printing on different surfaces depends on its formulation and production, on the direct interaction between the creative expressive energy of the artist and the requirements of the material and its natural .characteristics that provide a field of vision.
I developed my artworks in the field of prominent printing to reach expressive and visual values that are somewhat modern. And that is through experimentation and synthesis between surfaces and printed templates that had the greatest impact in coming up with an artistic vision characterised by novelty and artistic presentation through different topics, and through the colour values that such experiments give in the field of different printing."
