Dalia Saleh Farah
Dalia Saleh Farah was born 1973 in Kuwait. In 1991, she enrolled in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Alexandria University and graduated from the Department of Decoration with a bachelor's degree in expressive arts in 1996.
Shortly after starting her study, she developed an interest in drama, especially in live theatre performance. In her 3rd year, she decided to major in expressive arts (theatre, cinema & television) to graduate as a professional scenic and costume designer. She says:
"Several factors led me to that choice. Growing up as an extensive reader, especially of novels, made me passionate about the art of storytelling at an early point. I read a broad range of authors, among which Agatha Christie, Charles Dickens, Victor Hugo, and William Shakespeare were. As a matter of fact, I chose Macbeth to be my graduation Design project.
I assume that my mother's educational background influenced my hobbies and areas of interest, she has a degree in English Literature. With plenty of classic novels around me since infancy, I had a wonderful experience reading them over the years. My other significant hobby was drawing. When I grew up I wished to study either architecture or fine arts. Eventually, I chose fine arts."
Dalia Saleh Farah started to participate in theatre productions as an actor and a scenic artist since she was a university student. After graduation, she began to get assignments to design theatre productions. From 1999 till the present day (2021), she designed the scenography for approximately 14 theatre productions in coordination with several theatre groups and directors and she looks forward to participating in further theatrical experiments in the future.
