Artist Ahmed el-Shafei about his works:
"The ancient Egyptian art has reached the most abstract stages in its art summarising its shapes with lines and contrasting the colour spaces of natural colours. I am at this stage trying to merge the findings of the ancient Egyptian artist with contemporariness and modernity and with myself. Being an Egyptian artist and a natural extension of it I combined the symbolism of the circular shape (the sun disk, the deity, the universe, the life), the vertical lines that distinguished ancient Egyptian art and the curved lines that formed them to express the shape of the human body with the most contemporary colour values to take the viewer to a new world. I combined the past and its originality with modernity and contemporariness." - Ahmed el-Shafei
Exhibited at the Nūn Art Gallery Opening Exhibition "Nūn - The Inspiration" in February 2020
